On March 28th, Enrico, Simon, Johannes, Niklas and Nik attended the conference "Open Source Software an Schulen" (Open Source Software in schools) in Zurich, Switzerland.

Ursprünglich waren wir aufgrund der <a href="https://www.teckids.org/permalinks/news_f12-nik.htm"> LPIC-Prüfung von Simon Bruder </a> eingeladen worden, um den Verein vorzustellen. Dann kam aber auch noch ein Freedroidz-Workshop für Kinder hinzu, den Enrico Rottsieper (12 Jahre) als seinen ersten eigenen Workshop sehr erfolgreich leitete.
We had initially been invited to present our association after Simon Bruder took his LPIC examination. Later, a Freedroidz workshop for children was added to this. It marked the debut for Enrico Rottsieper (aged 12) who successfully led his first own workshop.

Es gibt einen <a href="http://minetest.net"> Minetest </a> -Wettbewerb und einen Mini- <a href="https://www.teckids.org/freedroidz.htm"> Freedroidz </a> -Workshop. Wir stellen einen Roboter vor, der Bananen in Schokosauce taucht und auf einen Teller legt und einen Zahnbürstenautomaten (für alle Kinder, die von den Schokobananen probiert haben ☺).
There will be <a href="http://minetest.net"> Minetest </a> contest and a mini Freedroidz workshop. We will present a robot that dunks bananas into chocolate sauce and a toothbrush machine (for all children that have tried the chocolate bananas ☺).

Der Verein hat am vergangenen Wochenende mit großem Erfolg das <a href="https://www.teckids.org/freedroidz.htm"> Freedroidz-Projekt </a> auf der LEGO-Messe <a href="http://www.absolut-steinchen.de"> ABSolut Steinchen </a> in der <a href="http://www.fh-bonn-rhein-sieg.de"> Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg </a> in Sankt Augustin vorgestellt. Mit dabei waren als Team neben Nik die Juniormitglieder <a href="https://www.teckids.org/people.htm#sgoetzke"> Sascha </a> und <a href="https://www.teckids.org/people.htm#tbenemann"> Tim </a> sowie Gast Justin, alle Schüler unserer Partnerschule <a href="http://www.sekundarschule-remscheid.de"> Nelson Mandela-Sekundarschule </a> in Remscheid. Die drei Jugendlichen bauten live Roboter mit den Mitteln des Freedroidz-Projektes und informierten Kinder und Eltern über die Aktivitäten des Vereins, wie die geplanten regelmäßigen <a href="https://www.teckids.org/freedroidz_abend_tarent.htm"> Freedroidz-Abende bei tarent </a> und die nächsten <a href="https://www.teckids.org/froglabs.htm"> FrogLabs </a> .
Last weekend, we successfully presented the Freedroidz project at the LEGO fair "ABSolut Steinchen" at the <a href="http://www.fh-bonn-rhein-sieg.de">Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences </a> . Apart from Nik, our junior members Sascha and Tim and our guest Justin (all of them students of our partner school in Remscheid) formed the team. The three built robots on-site using everything provided by the Freedroidz project and informed children and young adults about our activities, such as the planned Freedroidz evenings at tarent or the upcoming <a href="https://www.teckids.org/froglabs.htm"> FrogLabs </a>.

Besonders beliebt waren die Schokobananen des Prototypen der Banana-Barbara, eines Roboters, der automatisch Banananestücke in Schokoladensauce taucht. Wegen problematischer Verhältnisse mit der Physik war der Prototyp zwar nicht sonderlich selbstständig dafür hatten die jungen Besucher unseres Standes umso mehr Freude daran, die abgestürzten Banananen aus der Schokolade zu angeln. Den Roboter wird das <a href="https://www.teckids.org/freedroidz.htm"> Freedroidz-Team </a> nun bis zur nächsten Vorstellung noch stark verbessern, damit er dann nicht mehr ganz so viel Hilfe bei der Zubereitung der Süßigkeiten braucht ☺.
The chocolate bananas of the prototype of the Banana-Barbara, a robot that automatically dips banana pieces in chocolate sauce, were particularly popular. Because of problematic relationships with physics, the prototype was not particularly independent, but the young visitors to our stand had all the more pleasure in fishing the fallen banananas out of the chocolate. The Freedroidz team will now improve the robot a lot until the next performance so that it doesn't need as much help with the preparation of the sweets ☺.
