From April 24th to April 28th we attendet the Linux days in Graz. Our association organized the Mini-FrogLabs there and also offered a booth. During this trip, the tutors got to know Graz and attended various workshops at the event. They learned a lot about the various topics of the Linux days. The stand as well as the two workshops on the topics of game programming and electronics were successful. We were able to get our participants excited about these two topics.

On Wednesday morning we started early by train from Cologne Central Station. We spent the time on the train playing cards, talking and laughing. Due to a delay, the journey took a little longer than planned. After getting an impression of the apartment and settling in, we ordered something to eat. Then we went to sleep because it was very late.

On the second day we were able to sleep a little longer and looked for a small snack in Graz for lunch. Finally we explored Graz, while geocaching was of course not neglected. After a hike on the beautiful Schlossberg, with a fantastic view of Graz from above and the traditional visit to the Graz clock tower, some of us took the elevator and the others the 170 meter long slide through the mountain to the foot of the mountain. Then we went on geocaching, including on Murinsel, a glass building on the water, and in the old town of Graz.

Everyone was looking forward to visiting the Linux days and the various workshops on Friday. In addition to participating in various workshops such as soldering or lockpicking, we also made final preparations for the workshops and set up our booth.

The official start of the congress was on Saturday. Our workshop participants also arrived. They were very enthusiastic about the programming with Python, PyGame and the ESP8266 microcontroller. We received a lot of positive feedback for our projects and our commitment to the use of free software in education. After we dismantled our stand and cleaned up our rooms at the end of the day, we were invited to the social event. We also received an invitation to participate in the congress again next year.

All in all, this trip was very successful for our club. We could show the people at our booth that the Skolelinux / Debian Edu project was brought back to life or still exists, as well as we could fascinate the children in our workshops for programming and electronics.
