Im Rahmen der FOSDEM, am 1. und 2. Februar 2020, stellten wir uns und unsere Projekte an einem Stand vor. Unser Projekt " <a href="https://schul-frei.org/"> schul-frei </a> " war mit einem Gemeinschaftsstand anwesend, einer kuratierten Auswahl von Freie-Software-Produkten. Außerdem wurde <a href="https://aleksis.org/"> AlekSIS </a> zum ersten Mal einem breiten Publikum präsentiert.
At FOSDEM, on February 1st and 2nd, 2020, we presented ourselves and our projects at a stand. Our project <a href="https://www.schul-frei.org/"> Schul-frei </a> was there with a community stand, a curated selection of Free Software products. Also, <a href="https://aleksis.edugit.io/2020-02-04_fosdem-2020.html"> AlekSIS </a> was presented to a broader audience for the first time.

Die FOSDEM begann für uns Freitag Nachmittag mit der Abfahrt in Bonn. Wir fuhren mit zwei Autos nach Brüssel. Das erste Auto kam gegen Abend dort an. Zuerst begaben wir uns zur Uni und bereiteten dort den Stand für die kommenden Tage vor. Danach trafen wir uns mit den anderen aus dem zweiten Auto im Hostel.
The FOSDEM began for us on Friday afternoon with our departure in Bonn. We went to Brussels in two cars. The first car arrived there in the early evening. First, we went to the university and prepared the stand for the next days. We met the others from the second car in the hostel afterwards.

An unserem Stand lag der Fokus vorallem auf unserem Projekt "Schul-frei" mit der Schulsoftware AlekSIS. Alexander, Andreas und Niels kümmerten sich um den Stand und tauschten sich mit bis zu 200 Leuten über Open Source in Schulen und deren Erfahrungen über anderer Schulsoftware aus. Bei diesen Gesprächen, unter anderem auch mit Beteiligen aus dem Bildungssystem, stellten wir fest, dass die meisten anderen Schulinformationssysteme unvollständig sind oder nur teilweise funktionieren.
At our stand, the focus was on our project "schul-frei" together with the school information software AlekSIS. Alexander, Andreas and Niels took care of the stand and exchanged information with up to 200 people about open source in schools and their experiences with other school software. In these discussions, including those with participants from the education system, we found that most other school information systems are incomplete or only partially functional.

Außerdem hielten Dominik und Niels einen Vortrag über freie Software in der Schule und Bildung im Community-Devroom (diesen kann man <a href="https://video.fosdem.org/2020/UB5.230/edufoss.webm"> hier </a> nachträglich ansehen). In diesem stellten sie zu Beginn unseren Verein vor und Niels erläuterte in welchen Bereichen der Schule Software genutzt wird und in welchen freie Software zum Einsatz kommen kann. Er sprach auch über die Probleme, die freie Software dabei haben kann und, dass man diese auch zum eigenden Vorteil nutzen kann. Eines dieser Probleme veranschaulichte Dominik an einem Beispiel, dass er einem Gespräch mit einer Schulleitung entnommen hat. Anschließend stellte er unser Projekt "schul-frei" vor, das sich mit dieser Problematik beschäftigt. Zum Schluss wurde noch darauf eingegangen wie Jugendliche bei der Entwicklung von FOSS behilflich sein können. Da sie auf manchen Plattformen, wie GitHub daran gehindert werden, stellte Dominik noch zwei Alternativen dafür vor: FramaGit und EduGit. Zum Schluss rief er noch einmal dazu auf, Jüngeren zu helfen, aber auch sich von ihnen helfen zu lassen.
Dominik and Niels also gave a talk about free software in schools and education in the community devroom ( <a href="https://video.fosdem.org/2020/UB5.230/edufoss.webm"> you can re-watch it here </a> ). In the beginning, they introduced our organization and Niels explained in which areas of the school software is used and in which free software can be used. He also talked about the problems that free software can have and that you can also use it to your own advantage. Dominik illustrated one of these problems with an example taken from a conversation with a school principal. Afterwards, he presented our project "Schul-frei", which deals with this task. Finally, it was discussed how young people can help in the development of FOSS. Since they are prevented from doing so on some platforms like GitHub, Dominik presented two more alternatives: FramaGit and EduGit. In the end, he called once again to help younger ones but also to let them help you.

Besonders interessant war für sie ein Stand, an dem mit Hilfe eines Raspberry Pi ein Mischpult aufgebaut war und ein weiterer, an dem es um die Kommunikation übers Internet mit freier Software ging. Auch schauten sie sich Vorträge zu Python an.
Especially interesting for them was a stand where a mixing console was set up with the help of a Raspberry PI and another one where they talked about communication via the Internet with free software. They also attended some lectures on Python.

Von Mittwoch, dem 5. Juni bis Sonntag, dem 9. Juni findet in Hamburg eine kleine Ausgabe der DebConf, die so genannte MiniDebConf, eine Entwicklerkonferenz der Distribution Debian, statt. Im Rahmen dieser Konferenz veranstalten verschiedene Teams unter den Debian-Entwicklern so genannte Sprints, bei denen gemeinsam an Features enteickelt wird, Fehler behoben werden oder Teambelange diskutiert werden.
From 5th to 9th June, there will be a small edition of DebConf, so called MiniDebConf, in Hamburg. In the course of this conference, different teams among the developers of Debian will hold sprints, conentrated meetings to work on features, bugs and discuss topics important for the team.
