Während der Winterferien 2020/2021 haben wir unser Modell daher, in einstimmiger Absprache mit den beteiligten Einrichtungen, auf ein solidarisches Hosting-Modell umgestellt. In diesem Modell betreiben wir alle BigBlueButton-Server nicht mehr nach Einrichtung getrennt, sondern in einem gemeinsamen Pool. Dieser kann, wie schon von Anfang an unsere öffentliche Instanz, von jedem genutzt werden. Einrichtungen können jedoch weiterhin Ressourcen reservieren. Erfolgt eine solche Reservierung, vergrößern wir den Pool um die reservierten Ressourcen. Die Einrichtung erhält weiterhin ein eigenes Frontend unter ihrer eigenen Domain und auf Wunsch auch ein eigenes API-Token, mit dem sie nur Zugriff auf ihre eigenen Meetings und Teilnehmenden erhält. Die gebuchten Resourcen ergänzen wir aus unseren eigenen Mitteln um 10% Puffer für die solidarische Nutzung.
Durch dieses Modell stellen wir aktuell Resourcen für etwa 2500 gleichzeitige Nutzerinnen und Nutzer bereit. Von diesen wurden etwa 2200 von Bildungseinrichtungen reserviert, werden von diesen finanziert und stehen diesen auch vornehmlich zur Verfügung.Gleichzeitig können z.B. einmalige Meetings, private Treffen von Jugendlichen, Wochenende-Veranstaltungen wie Barcamps oder Hackathons oder ähnliches problemlos und ohne zusätzlichen Aufwand stattfinden.
Wir danken allen Einrichtungen, die dem solidarischen Hosting zugestimmt haben und so vor allem ihren eigenen, aber auch allen anderen Lernenden die Möglichkeit eröffnen, freie, offene Plattformen zu nutzen. Beim diesjährigen <a href="http://thomas-krenn.ag"> Thomas-Krenn-Award </a> hat der Teckids e. V. den 2. Platz belegt. Dabei haben wir ein Preisgeld in Form eines Warengutscheins über 2000€ gewonnen.
Über einige Zeit hinweg hat das Team Systemadministration, mit Beteiligung eines Jugendlichen, am 3. April die mit dem Gewinn erworbene Hardware vorbereitet, im Rechenzentrum eingebaut und eingebunden. Wir konnten unser Setup so erweitern, dass unsere Infrastruktur teilweise hochverfügbar ist.
Mit Hilfe der gewonnenen Hardware konnten wir unseren Virtualisierungscluster auf Basis von Proxmox aufbauen, so dass allen unseren Projekten rund um freie Software in der Bildung nun wesentlich mehr Resourcen zur Verfügung stehen. Dadurch war es uns möglich, rechtzeitig zu den erhöhten Anforderungen an Online-Unterricht umfangreiche Plattformen für Schulen, Bildungs- und Jugendeinrichtungen einzurichten, wie z.B. öffentlich nutzbare Instanzen von BigBlueButton und Moodle. Dies hat dazu beigetragen, dass sich mehr Bildungsträger für diese Lösungen interessieren und auch die diversen Projekte an Reichweite gewinnen. Zeitnah werden wir dann alle Projekte aus dem schul-frei-Kanon mit Demoplattformen ausstatten.
Aufgrund des Ausfalls der Chemnitzer Linuxtage konnte die Preisverleihung leider nicht stattfinden, dennoch freuen wir uns sehr über den Gewinn und danken der Thomas-Krenn.AG sehr herzlich für ihre Unterstützung.
Am 25. April 2020 fand der virtuelle <a href="http://openeducationday.ch/"> Open Education (Half-)Day </a> (OED) statt. Bei dem OED treffen sich Interessierte an Freier Software und freien Unterrichtsmaterialien und tauschen sich aus. Dabei durften wir den technischen Gastgeber spielen.
Der OED findet normalerweise in der Schweiz statt und ist ein Angebot verschiedener Organisationen, vor allem des Vereins <a href="https://www.ch-open.ch/"> CH Open </a> . Allerdings konnte er aufgrund der aktuellen Lage nicht dort stattfinden. Deshalb fand er online statt. Wir haben hierfür unseren Dienst <a href="http://bbb.teckids.org"> BigBlueButton </a> zur Verfügung gestellt. Mit verschiedensten Funktionen konnten die Referenten ihre Inhalte vorstellen und auch mit den zeitweise bis zu 200 Teilnehmenden interagieren.
Über drei Stunden hinweg konnte man an verschiedenen Vorträgen und Workshops teilnehmen. Auch wir haben einen Vortrag gehalten, bei dem wir das Projekt <a href="https://schul-frei.org/"> schul-frei </a> vorstellten und anderen von der Arbeit des Projektes erzählten. Auch Juniormitglieder haben bei dem Vortrag mitgewirkt und konnten einige Zuhörer begeistern. Aufgrund der COVID-19-Ausbreitung werden flächendenkend Schulen geschlossen und Lehrerende und Lernende müssen sich über das Internet verständigen.Hier zeigen wir Lehrkräften (kosten)freie Tools, welche helfen können, den Unterricht auf Entfernung zu gestalten.
Jitsi Meet ist eine Webanwendung für Audio- und Videokonferenzen, welche Lehrerende und Lernende für den Online-Unterricht verwenden können.Dabei kann in einer Kachelansicht jeder Teilnehmende die Übertragungen der Anderen sehen. Mit einem Klick auf das Handsymbol ist auch ein "Aufzeigen". An Stelle des Videos kann auch der Inhalt des Bildschirms oder eines einzelnen Fensters freigegeben werden.Über einen Chat können auch textbasierte Informationen, wie z.B. Links, geteilt werden.
